Too far gone!

The number one reason people don't turn to Jesus -- they think they are too far gone! They have done too many bad things in their life that God won't even give them a second look. There is no such thing as someone who is too far gone!

"Be just and fair to all. Do what is right and good, for I am coming soon to rescue you and to display my righteousness among you. Blessed are all those who are careful to do this. Blessed are those who honor my Sabbath days of rest and keep themselves from doing wrong. 'Don't let foreigners who commit themselves to the Lord say, 'The Lord will never let me be part of his people.' And don't let the eunuchs say, I'm a dried-up tree with no children and no future.' For this is what the Lord says: I will bless those eunuchs who keep my Sabbath days holy and who choose to do what pleases me and commit their lives to me. I will give them-- within the walls of my house -- a memorial and a name far greater than sons and daughters could give. For the name I give them is an everlasting one. I will never disappear!" (Isaiah 56:1-5)

There is no one too far gone! In the Old Testament, Eunuchs and foreigners were not allowed to worship in the Temple. But, God promised they were not forgotten and they were honored members of the family of God. When Jesus came to live among us, he welcomed the oppressed, the outcasts, those rejected by society, and those who were forgotten by society. As followers of Jesus Christ our mission as we go out into the world is to make sure everyone knows ALL ARE WELCOME.

The bar is low for the lost. God will bless those who commit themselves to him and who choose to please him. Those who recognize their sins and make a stand to do what pleases the Lord will be blessed. The Lord will remain faithful to them regardless of what they have done in the past. As a matter of fact, Jesus was critical of those who think themselves wise and clever. (Matthew 11:25) And those that are burdened by the sins that way themselves down are invited to life with Jesus.

"Then Jesus said, 'Come to me, all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humbled and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light." (Matthew 11:28-30)

God has always been so open to those who are far from him. There is great joy in heaven when the lost overcome the barriers placed by the evil one, to spend life with Jesus.

Come to Jesus, and he will give you rest! You are NOT too far gone!
