Together!

I cannot think of anyone else I would want to go through life with! People marvel at how much of our life we spend together and I always think, “Doesn’t everyone like to spend time with their spouse?” Stephanie and I raised three kids TOGETHER, we spend time with 22 grandkids TOGETHER, we travel TOGETHER, we minister TOGETHER, coached TOGETHER, and we taught TOGETHER. We have spent the better part of 46 years TOGETHER and looking forward to MORE!

Today, I was reading about one of my favorite couples in the Bible, Priscilla and Aquil. They got kicked out of Rome because of their beliefs, traveled to Corinth and began working with Paul as tentmakers. They traveled with Paul to Syria. Eventually they met up with Apollos.

“Meanwhile, a Jew named Apollos, an eloquent speaker who knew the Scriptures well, had arrived in Ephesus from Alexandria in Egypt. He had been taught the way of the Lord, and he taught others about Jesus with an enthusiastic spirit and with accuracy. However, he knew only about John’s baptism. When Priscilla and Aquilla heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained the way of God even more accurately.” (Acts 18:24-26)

Yes, I LOVE THIS. This couple team taught Apollos, encouraged this wonderful speaker to learn MORE about Jesus so he could use those skills to spread the gospel. When Stephanie and I get to teach together, she provides such great insight and when we are done, she fills me in how everyone else responded. She can read people’s hearts and the issues they are facing. I count on her skills reading people!

That is why I love Wednesdays more with our groups  and why Thursday evening discipleship groups are so fulfilling. It is on those two days that Stephanie is able to join me in teaching. I always do a better job when she is around, when she can contribute and when she supports me. She is my fiercest defender at the same time being my greatest critic. I value her opinion above all others and doing ministry together is always better!

I praise the Lord for my wonderful wife and the life we get to lead TOGETHER

“Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies.” (Proverbs 31:1)

“She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing form laziness. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” (Proverbs 31:25-29)
