Who should get the credit!
I did not watch much of the Super Bowl game last night. When it was 31-0, I said, enough is enough. The commercials weren’t that good, I didn’t like the halftime show, and I was tired. SO, I went to bed not thinking anything else about the game until I got up this morning. One of the great things I heard about the game came from the post game interview with the coach of the Eagles, Nick Sirianni. Then I got to see Jalen Hurts interview to follow that up. They both gave the credit to Jesus, where it belongs!
God deserves the credit! To God be the Glory, great things he has done.
I was reading today in Luke 22 about the disciples arguing about greatness:
“Then they began to argue Amon themselves about who would be the greatest among them. Jesus told them, ‘In this world the kings and great men lord it over their people, yet they are called ‘friends of the people.’ But among you it will be different. Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant. Who is more important, the one who sits at the table or the one who serves? The one who sits at the table, of course. But not here! For I am among you as one who serves.” (Luke 22:24-27)
Humbleness is honored by God. Proverbs 22:4 says:
“True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life.” (Proverbs 22:4)
God rewards those who humble themselves in this life. He will provide riches! Does that mean money? Well, in some ways, yes. The word used there means wealth. It is used with Solomon and others. But, let’s stop and think about this for a moment. If you humble yourself to attain riches, are you really humble? I am claiming you are not. SO, how does this “riches” thing work for the humble.
The definition for “riches” changes drastically for the humble. When you are humble you are not searching for STUFF, you are searching for enough to get by. You are searching for riches to give away. You are looking for ways to reward others and to GIVE GOD ALL THE CREDIT!
So, in that case, I would say yes, riches will come to the humble. Yet, I also say there is an honor and reward way beyond what we see in this life. God will ultimately reward us and honor us at the end of time. His followers will reap the benefit of a good life. Read this:
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.” James 4:10
We will be lifted up in honor and glory in the last days. We will receive the glory of God. We will be his heirs and we will be glorified with him. To God be the praise and glory, AMEN!
