Doing the Unexpected Good!

Ok, I have a confession to make. On our way down to Spring Break, we stopped at McDonalds for some morning breakfast and coffee. We were in one of the two order lines in the drive through and got done ordering. An older lady in the other line and I finished at the same time. I let her go first because she kind of looked GRUMPY. I even made a comment to our OLDER GKIDS and we got a chuckle about it. We got up to the drive thru window and the McDonalds worker informed us that she paid for our order! Oh, MY! I felt so bad that I called her grumpy! It was such a very nice gesture. It was definitely and unexpected GOOD!

We are having some of the most perfect weather on Spring Break this year. That is not always the case. But, the beach has been filled with sun, ideal temperatures (75), and little to no wind. Probably the most important part of the PERFECT SPRING BREAK is getting to spend time with the G-kids. From little Lennie to the “Senior” crew it has been a lot of fun. I kind of feel for the older grandkids as they are always on the go, every day, but while on Spring Break they are kind of captive as they do not have transportation. Really, it is good for them, although they might not appreciate it. Last night, I let them take the truck to get some Ice Cream on their own. I was happy to do it. I love doing special things for my grandkids and while some of you might appreciate it, letting them use my beautiful truck was a big deal. LOL!

This morning I was reading Galatians 5/6 and got to these simple verses:

“Don’t be misled — you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone — especially to those in the family of faith.” (Galatians 6:7-10)

There is great joy in life doing good to others and I especially take joy in doing the unexpected good things for my grandkids. I have also gotten to the point, I love doing the unexpected good for those that can’t do it for themselves. That is exactly what these verses are all about.

Thank You Lord, for the opportunities to do the little things for my family, friends, and neighbors. It gives me a sense about how you feel when you take care of me. Thank you Lord, for the many blessings you provide each and every day.
