More blessed to GIVE (Grace) than to receive!
Well, Spring Break is, literally, in the rear view mirror. We are on our way home, outside of Nashville, TN. The weather was great, but as always, with any good vacation it comes to an end too quickly. This was an odd SB. We have always had a UNITED FAMILY spring break. This year we were split and I certainly missed that part of the break. I also was more tired than I thought I was. So, resting was a huge item on the agenda. I lost track how many naps I took! LOL!
But, I am ready to get back and see what God has in store for our ministry. I have learned that his plans are always good, even when he has to work with his flawed, sinful people. (I am speaking mostly of the man in the mirror!) He is filled with a perfect grace and mercy that really should become a part of our daily lives. I have to admit I do not extend as much grace as I should. I am not as patient and as kind as I should be with my family, my friends, and the people I interact with each and every day.
Father, please forgive me. I am not as tolerant as I should be with other people’s flaws and mistakes.
“And now I entrust you to God and the message of his grace that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those he has set apart for himself.” (Acts 20:32)
A few verses later, Luke shares a brief quote from Jesus.
“And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: “It is more blessed to give that to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
When I have read this quote before I always think of material gifts and finances. But, today I am thinking about giving grace and being patient, of which I am the worst. It is definitely more blessed to give God’s grace to others. Sometimes it is easier just to give financial support, or material blessings than it is to extend grace. Thank you Lord, for the great reminder!
“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” (Colossians 3:13-15)
This is a much needed message for ME today.
