A bit Nostalgic lately
Stephanie and I are headed into a busy weekend and we are excited if not a bit nostalgic. I realized that this past Sunday could be the last time I attend our HOME church. We have been a part of this church for the past 19 years and it has been the source of our inspiration. Literally, this group of believers and the pastors are the reason for our ministry. This entire process started with a single sermon asking us to use our passions for God’s glory. The passions at the time were motorcycles. We were prompted to begin serving with CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association) and the rest, as they say is history.
We retired from full time teaching, traveled the world, shared the gospel, and made disciples. God has taken us on an absolutely fantastic journey that has led us to the weekend as a candidate to lead a flock of believers. How amazing is our God!
I was reading Romans 15 today and it appeared that Paul was also a bit nostalgic:
“So I have reason to be enthusiastic about all Christ Jesus has done through me in my service to God. Yet I dare not boast about anything except what Christ as done through me, bringing the Gentiles to God by my message and by the way I worked among them. They were convinced by the power of miraculous signs and wonders and by the power of God’s Spirit. In this way, I have fully presented the Good News of Christ from Jerusalem all the way to Illyricum.” (Romans 15:17-19, NLT)
I, like Paul, am so enthusiastic about all the Christ Jesus has done through me. All week this week I have had great reminders about what God has done through me. Really it started last week meeting with some of my favorite Bible Study buddies. Then Sunday at church I got to hug and say good bye to a sweet young lady who gave her life to Jesus and I had the privilege to baptize this summer. She is such a wonderful young lady. I got to have a wonderful visit and playtime with a couple of my GREAT grandkids on Sunday. I got to talk about Jesus with a few of my favorite people on Monday and Tuesday evening. Tuesday morning I got to meet with many of my favorite BIKERS. I had a fun phone call last night talking about an important theological question, “Did Adam and Eve have a belly-button?” HAHAHA! that was followed up by listening to the fabulous testimony of one of our bible study ladies. Life has been wonderful this week remembering all that God has done through us! NO, it’s not what WE have done. It is what he has done through us!
Now Stephanie and I are nearing the finish line and ready to start another adventure. I am excited to see how God uses us. I cannot wait to see his powerful SPIRIT work miraculous signs and wonders. I cannot wait to build new friendships and forge new bonds of faith and inspire a group of people to go out and share the gospel message. I praise God for this wonderful life!
