“Wooing” People?
Strengthfinders Character traits - https://www.strengthsmining.com/gallup-strengthsfinder/influencing-strengths/woo/
One of the things I love to do in life is meet new people. I have taken many “personality” and “leadership” assessments in the past and one of the character traits high on my list is my desire to meet new people and win them over. That trait is called “WOO.” I am WOOING people. I meet them and instantly want to woo them to be a friend. Only 13% of the people in the United States have that trait, so I am unique! (I know …. Many of you already knew that!) Right now I am “wooing” people x 1000. For the last week, that has been my focus in my new position, I need to meet people. I need to start establishing their trust and they need to know who I am. I need to build relationships with an entirely new group of people. I am on WOO-OVERLOAD and I love it!
Wooing people fits my desires as a Pastor and Disciplemaker. I want to woo people over for the Lord. I want to listen to their objections. I want to hear their hurts, hear about their lives, and help them to realize Christ is the answer. He is the answer to the joys of life, the trials of life, and the routines of our daily schedules. HE IS THE ANSWER!
As I was re-reading one of my favorite passages of scripture this morning it made me think about my love wooing people and being labeled and AMBASSADOR FOR CHRIST!
“God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we please, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:18b-21)
When you think of yourself as an ambassador for Christ and realize you are Christ physical representative hear on earth, it puts a lot of pressure on you. Are you good at representing Christ? AND are you wooing people to yourself or are you wooing people for Christ? Are you calling people back to him? I love and feel honored to be God’s spokesman, his ambassador, and on the front lines of making disciples who make disciples.
