Sleep!

I have had a couple of really good nights of sleep and I praise God for it. I was sleeping on a blow up air mattress. It was a "good" one. But, even with a good air mattress, it just isn't comfortable. Stephanie and I have had a NECTAR sleep mattress for about six years and it has been so comfortable. We bought another one for us to have down here at our new home. It came in a couple of days ago and it has been fantastic. We will put our "old" one, which is still fine, in one of our other GUEST bedrooms. I finally got it set up and NOW I am getting a much better nights rest.

Rest and sleep are so important and I have not gotten into a routine sleep schedule yet. Everything here is still so new, the "job"(not really a job, but a different daily routine), REGULAR sermon prep, prayer for the church, people, family, and DOING THE RIGHT thing affects my sleep routines. I am still a little overwhelmed that God would choose me for this important responsibility. I see that in scripture all the time, so I know I am not alone.

Today, God directed me to one of my FAVORITE SCRIPTURES. I can never read Ephesians 3 without focusing on this scripture:

"When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen." (Ephesians 3:14-21, NLT)

I haven't had a whole lot of time to just sit and reflect on all that has happened over the past month. I am completely amazed at my journey. Do you ever get to that point where you are overwhelmed by the greatness of God? This scripture helps me to sit and just marvel at all God has done. "When I think of all this..." is just a powerful start to this scripture and YES, I do literally fall on my knees when I reflect on what God has done, is doing, and will do. It drives me to want to serve him even more, to sit more in his presence, and to just pause and reflect in AWE!

God is good!
