Who sticks up for you!

"Your lvoe has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts fo God's people." (Philemon 1:7, NLT)

Stephanie and I have been on vacation a week with six of our grandkids in California. One thing we know, one thing that is just as sure as death and taxes, "Kids are going to fight!" LOL! I fought with my brothers and sisters, my daughters fought, and kids throughout eternity have fought. I remember one time my sister HIT ME with a HUGE CATALOG. (Most kids now, don't even know what a catalog is!) She broke my finger. I am sure I was completely innocent in the situation and did nothing to deserve this treatment! HAHAHA!

One thing we talked about with our grandkids is standing up for each other against the outside world. NO one messes with my family. When we are threatened we stick together. As the FAMILY OF JESUS CHRIST we also need to defend each other, even in our craziness, even with our imperfections, we are family. JESUS is the head of our family and he also acts as our mediator to the Creator of Heavens and Earth. He defends those he calls his own and that would be YOU AND ME, his followers. He even offered himself as a sacrifice to save us.

"There were many priests under the old system, for death prevented them from remaining in office. But. because Jesus lives forever, his priesthood lasts forever. Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf." (Hebrews 7:23-25, NLT)

Jesus intercedes for us and will continue to intercede for us FOREVER. We are saved because of his sacrifice. His ministry is because of the perfect GRACE of God.

"But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises." (Hebrews 8:6, NLT)

I praise God for his perfect priesthood. WE NEED NO OTHER MEDIATOR between us and GOD. We don't need a priest to confess to. We don't need to continue with sacrifices. We don't need to do anything beyond acknowledging the work of Jesus on the cross on our behalf and accept his free gift of GRACE. He stands up for me, even when I do not deserive it, (which is always!) He is our defender and our savior. Praise God!
