Not just another meeting!
I had some fun last night going to out to eat with some great friends. It is always fun to gather together and have fun with people that love the Lord. But, I am not sure it is necessary to over eat everytime we gather together! LOL! I am still feeling the effects this morning. We went to Del Frisco's in downtown Indy. Klayton was our server. His gramps is proud of him and his heart for the Lord. He is such a great people person. The food was amazing and the staff was top-notch. It wasn't Weenee World, but it was great! HAHAHAHAHA!
Wednesday's are staff meeting days. Every morning I wake up and realize I actually have a STAFF to work with serving the Lord, I about have to pinch myself. I enjoy our staff meetings because we really get to focus on HOW WE CAN SERVE THE LORD. It has only been four months, but I always want to make sure we are serving the Lord, KEEPING THE MAIN THING THE MAIN THING! I never want staff meetings to be meaningless dribble! LOL! I never want them to be about doing BUSINESS. I always want them to be about SERVING THE LORD!
It fits my scripture today:
"Stop bringing me your meaningless gifts; the incense of your offerings disgust me! As for your celebrations of the new moon and the Sabbath and your special days for fasting -- they are all sinful and false. I want no more of your pious meetings." (Isaiah 1:13, NLT)
My desire is to always keep the LORD front and center in all I do and that includes STAFF MEETINGS. I hope and pray you, we, all of us, keep our eyes "focused on Jesus." I know this cliche is so easy to say and harder to backup. Our goal is to serve the LORD, spreading his wonderful GOOD NEWS, sharing his LOVE, and helping others in their walk with HIM. But, wow, it is so easy to forget those goals. Israel thought serving the Lord was giving sacrifices at the Temple. Do we equate SERVICE TO THE LORD with ATTENDING CHURCH? No, of course not, but it is easy to fall into that trap. We have to fight the urge to LOSE SIGHT OF JESUS!
Here is what we should remember:
"Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.'Come now let's settle this,' says the Lord, 'Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are like crimson, I will make them as white as wool. If you will only obey me, you will have plenty to eat. But, if you turn away and refuse to listen, you will be devoured by the sword of your enemies. I, the Lord, have spoken!'" (Isaiah 1:17-20, NLT)
We have a purpose in this world. It is simple. Do good, promote justice, help those who cannot help themselves, and make sure people know of the wonderful SACRIFICE JESUS PAID ON THE CROSS FOR ALL OF US. Nothing else matters. We can focus on that purpose in any career. We can do that in school. We can do that at church. We can do that in a STAFF MEETING doing the "business of the church."
Thank You Lord for blessing me for these wonderful 65 years of life. I praise you every day for the marvelous things you have done. I will do all I can to serve you and follow the path you have laid before me. I know from experience, I cannot do it on my own. I need you and your wonderful power, your grace, your mercy, and your love, to be the person you have called me to be. Thank You Lord! AMEN!
