Everyone needs a TRUSTED ADVISER!
I am certainly looking forward to this weekend. At our Sunday services my mom is coming to play the piano, Klayton is leading a group of singers as we will be singing some "OLDIES BUT GOODIES" and one of my good friends and spiritual mentor is coming to church with his lovely wife! I am excited. The ordination service will cap off a busy but great day. MY MENTOR, Dave Long and his wife Martha moved out of Indiana to Missouri several years ago and I have missed him. We connect once in a while on zoom but our regular meetings are a thing of the past. I asked if he would be able to come anoint and pray over me at my ordination and he is making the long trip to do it. I am so honored and blessed.
Everyone needs a TRUSTED ADVISER AND MENTOR in their life. We all need someone who is supportive and yet, bold enough to speak the truth. That is Dave for me. I have been able to witness his wisdom, watch his leadership skills at work, and I have heard his heart for the Lord. Those would be great characteristics for any one and definitely prerequisites for a MENTOR.
I was reading Isaiah 19 today:
"What fools are the officials of Zoan! Their best counsel to the king of Egypt is stupid and wrong. Will they sitll boast to Pharaoh of their wisdom? Will they dare brag about all their wise ancestors? Whe are you wise counselors, Pharaoh? Let them tell you what God plans, what the Lord of Heaven Armies is going to do to Egypt. The officials of Zoan are fools, and the officials of Memphis are deluded. The leaders of the people have led Egypt astray." (Isaiah 19:11-13, NLT)
Do you have people you can TRUST as your counsel? I have been so blessed to have many people watch over me, counsel me, advise me, and hold me accountable as I have walked on this journey over the past 8 years and I owe a debt of gratitude to them all. God was watching over me through these men and I praise him for the friendships forged through that process. Everyone needs a mentor or spiritual advisor. ALWAYS SEEK WISE COUNSEL!
"Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success. Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; It is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! The path of life leads upward for the wise; they leave the grave behind." (Proverbs 15:22-24, NLT)
I cannot imagine where I would be without wise counsel. Thank you to all who have been there for me on this amazing journey!
