I am not worthy!
I have so many friends and family cheering us on as we continue this adventure leading a church. I am so buoyed by there support. I am not sure they know how important they are. Often, on Sunday afternoons, I crash. Every week is like a crescendo building and building to Sunday morning. Yes, there is other ministry going on through the week, and yes, the goal is WAY beyond the walls of this church. Still, Sunday is a key piece in supporting our disciple makers. A lot of effort is put into making sure Sunday is a positive, encouraging, and challenging experience. So, on Sunday afternoons, I crash, I rest and reflect. Then I wake up Monday morning and we do it again. I love the cycle. I love the mission and love the support of family and friends, they motivate to make sure we keep the focus on JESUS. One thing I know, I am not worthy of this role God has pressed upon me. So when I read Isaiah 6, I can relate to Isaiah's reaction to seeing the LORD.
"It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other, 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven's Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!' Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke. Then I said, ' It's all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven's Armies.' Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with it and said, 'See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.' Then I heard the Lord asking, 'Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?' I said, 'Her I am, send me.'" (Isaiah 6:1-8, NLT)
I am not worthy, but I am made worthy through the cleansing power of the Lord. The strength to preach, the strength to lead, the strength even to get out of bed in the morning comes from the Lord. He has filled me with his spirit and he has filled my friends and family with his spirit to provide the encouragement and support needed. Thank you Lord. I know I am not worthy, yet I am going. I have answered the same call of Isaiah, PLEASE LORD SEND ME. I praise God every day because of his power, wisdom, and amazing Love.
Heavenly Father, I look forward to another week, following your will, following the guidance of your spirit. I praise you for the gospel. I praise you that it is spread through this worthless, cracked vessel. I praise that YOU alone are truly holy, but you touch each of us to make us worthy of the gospel of YOUR SON! Amen!
