God doesn't get enough credit!
God doesn't get enough credit!
That might be one of the greatest UNDERSTATEMENTS of all time. Man has gone to the moon. Man has invented and invented and invented. We have miraculous technology, amazing accomplishments that were once completely unthought of. But this simple verse from Isaiah says it all:
"Lord, you will grant us peace; all we have accomplished is really from you." (Isaiah 26:12, NLT)
I personally have accomplished nothing in life unless you want to count all the time I spent thwarting the plans of God! I have done my level "sinful" best to mess things up, but God, in his infinite patience, in his infinite power and control, turned all things for his good. I am the beneficiary of HIS GREATNESS.
I was thinking about this today as I was watching President Trump, weary looking, arrive home after sealing an end to the most recent version of war in the Middle East. Humanly, Trump deserves some of the credit, but it would not happen without the POWER OF GOD ordaining it to happen. We get the credit, we get the glory, we get the headlines, and GOD DOES ALL THE WORK! I praise him.
I truly believe this verse:
"O Lord you have made our nation great; yes, you have made us great. You have extended our borders, and we give you the glory!" (Isaiah 26:15, NLT)
I know there are people that vehemently disagree with us being labeled "GREAT." But I think we would all agree that God has given us a place in this world to LEAD and sometimes we do a great job and other times we are an embarrassment. Our greatness is NOT PERFECT. We have made and will continue to make sinfully wrong decisions and our leaders will fail. But, God will never fail. His plans are perfect!
Can you praise God for his grace and mercy? Can you praise him through the trial and pain, like we have seen in the past two years with war in the Middle East? Can you GIVE HIM THE CREDIT for bringing it to an end, saying enough is enough?
"Oh, how great are God's riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! For who can know the Lord's thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice? And who has given him so much that he needs to pay it back? For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen!" (Romans 11:33-36, NLT)
Heavenly Father, forgive me for always taking the credit for the GREAT THINGS in life and blaming you for all the bad things that happen. I know you are sovereign. It is only through your power and strength that all things work for the GOOD of those who love him. We do love you and are humbled that you care so much for us. Please Lord, direct our steps, that we might draw closer to you and take one step closer to your KINGDOM coming on EARTH as it is in Heaven! Amen!
