THE ULTIMATE BOOK (not the BIBLE!)

 

One of the things I loved doing as a YOUNG Dad was reading to my kids. the picture above is an oldie but a goodie, (not just because I had hair! LOL) We loved reading Dr Seuss books and all sorts of crazy books. One of my favorites was, "Stand Back the Elephant is going to Sneeze" or "There's rocks in my socks said the Ox to the Fox!" Laying in bed with the girls before they went to sleep and reading to them is one of my fondest memories.

I still read a lot, but now it is with a different purpose. Those times of reading together for FUN had nothing to do with the books but the time we had together. I need to take more time to read JUST FOR FUN. I am not sure when that is going to happen. Don't misunderstand me, I do LOVE TO READ SCRIPTURE. But, even then I am seeeking a message from the Lord, looking for his presence between the pages, and guidance for my day ahead. I spend time every day in God's word and I DO LOVE IT. I am so amazed at how God speaks to me in so many different ways. Here is what I was reading this morning that struck me:

"Soon -- and it will not be very long -- the forests of Lebanon will become a fertile field, and the fertile field will yield bountiful crops. In that day the deaf will hear words read from a book, and the blind will see through the gloom and darkness." (Isaiah 29:17-18, NLT)

There is one book that is the ultimate book and NO it is not the BIBLE. Although, the BIBLE is pretty important. But the ULTIMATE BOOK is the Lamb's Book of Life. That is the ULTIMATE NOVEL of all time. Is your name written there? This book is the Ultimate WHO's WHO, a complete list of those who have given their lives to JESUS. 

"I saw not temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and teh Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light. The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory. Its gates will never be closed at the end of the day because there is no night there. And all the nations will bring their glory and honor into the city. Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty -- but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life." (Revelation 21:22-27, NLT)

LIFE ETERNAL with JESUS, in paradise, that will be a precious site. No more sorrow, no more pain, just the presence of the glory of the LORD. I can't wait. I pray daily that all my kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, family and friends will join me with their names recorded in that PRECIOUS BOOK of LIFE. The idea that some will not join me and will perish is to heartbreaking to think about. WHO IS GOING WITH ME?
