Fixing a problem that never existed!

 

Stephanie and I have a lot of SMART BULBS in our house. We have ALEXA and all we have to do is say, "ALEXA, turn on living room lights" and the lights come on. Once in awhile for some crazy reason, it does not work, maybe one light or more won't come on, or we have to repeat ourselves. So, look, I get it, this is a modern day solution for A PROBLEM that NEVER EXISTED. I don't know of anyone who is incapable of turning their lights OFF and ON. It was not an exhausting activity. I never said, "I can't keep doing this. I wish my lights could just go off and on by my voice." But, saying all that, We have smart bulbs in my home office. we have smart bulbs in our living room, and we have smart bulbs in our bedrooms. I have to admit, it is a little weird! 

I was thinking about SMART LIGHT BULBS when I read Matthew 5:14-16

"You are the light of the world -- like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father." (Matthew 5:14-16, NLT)

Our pursuit of holiness is not just for us, but it is to bring praise to your HEAVENLY FATHER. As we live holy lives we become witnesses of GOD's transforming power. Our actions, rooted in love and guided by the HOLY SPIRIT, can draw others to seek GOD who makes us holy. OUR HOLINESS is attractive to the world. I will make them say, "WOW! I love how _______ really cares for me. I love how they live their lives helping and serving others. I should be like that." THEN we can give all the PRAISE to GOD which plants that seed of holiness in their lives. 

Our holiness should be SMART like a SMART BULB. It should be automatic. It should be so routine for us that we don't even think twice about it. But others will surely see it! Being a light in the darkness is the GOAL of BEING HOLY because GOD is HOLY. 

Heavenly Father, Help us to get into the routine of being HOLY in everything we do. Guide our thoughts, our heart and our actions that others might be drawn to you. Help me to be a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to you. Maybe, just maybe, our light will shine bright enough in the darkness that our community will be affected in a positive way. WORK YOUR HOLINESS through every ounce of who I am. AMEN!
