I'm THNKING! I'm THINKING! I'm THINKING!
TODAY, I was reflecting on Romans 12 this morning and I was thinking about "THINKING." And instantly, I remembered the scene in Night at the Museum 2 where they seek advice from THE THINKER STATUE and he gives them nothing. All he says is, "I'm thinking! I'm thinking! I'm thinking!" and then he gets distracted by a beautiful statue. "FIRE POWER!" comes to mind! LOL! If you haven't seen the movie you won't know what I am talking about.
Our minds, our thoughts, are such an important part of our life both for good and bad. Do any of you struggle with staying focused during your PRAYER TIME? I have to admit, I can easily get distracted from the THOUGHTS I should have versus the thoughts I actually have. Worldly things get in the way of dwelling on the things of God. So, this process of RENEWING OUR MINDS is a daily, sometimes hourly process.
"And so dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice -- the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don't copy the behaviors and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." (Romans 12:1-2, NLT)
The last sentence of that passage is so important. I can't tell you the number of times I have heard people stress over not knowing what God's will was for their life. "What is my purpose? What is God's plan for me?" But Romans give us a great idea how we can learn God's will for us. It starts with our minds. Give our minds over to him. LET GOD TRANSFORM YOUR MIND!
Holiness, being set apart for God's purposes begins in the mind. By renewing our thoughts, we align them with God's truth. This transformation is ongoing and requires discipline, self-control, and a willingness to let go of past patterns, SCHEMATICS of life. As we delve into Scripture and dedicate ourselves in prayer, our minds become fertile ground for God's holiness and it yields a great harvest in our words and our actions.
What ways do you need God to transform your thinking, to RENEW YOUR THOUGHTS? Our holiness depends on our thoughts first. It can not transform our heart with out our head and we transform our heads with the power of the HOLY SPIRIT within us.
Heavenly Father, RENEW MY MIND! Renew my thoughts daily so that my thoughts align with your thoughts. Give me the strength to stay focused on YOUR PLAN and to ignore my plans and the distractions of this world. YOU have granted me purpose and I am humbled by your faith in me to lead YOUR people.
Thank you Lord!
AMEN!
