Rhythm and Routine
It's time to get back to the RHYTHM and ROUTINE of my life and I love it!
Yes, I am a "routine" person. It has taken me a little over six months to get into a RHYTHM as a pastor, but I am getting to where I want to be. THEN Stephanie and I take a week off to visit our daughter in California and now I have to get BACK INTO THE ROUTINE of heading to the church, prayer, study, meetings, planning, and most importantly loving on the flock God has entrusted me with.
In my week off, I planned part of the sermon series for next year, (through May), got ahead on sermon writing, visited SKIDROW with my daughter, and spent time with my grandkids. It was such a great time away, but I am glad to be back and enjoyed gathering yesterday with my South Memorial people.
I started back into ISAIAH this morning.
I am always amazed at how resistant people are to GOD. I am not going to defend his existence today, but I just don't understand how people can look at the created world and conclude there is no God. But, then people who DO acknowledge the existence of GOD but DO NOT RELY UPON HIM, is just as amazing.
That's what was going on in Isaiah 30:
"This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel says, "Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved, in quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it.
So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help." (Isaiah 30:15, 18, NLT)
There are so many people that accept the existence of God, but do NOT TURN TO HIM. I just don't get it. Last week was a great time of rest. I wasn't resting from the LORD. I was RESTING IN THE LORD. I know, since I didn't write a blog last week it looks like I was taking a break FROM the Lord. Nothing could be further from the truth. I had a great amount of time spent just sitting in his presence, contemplating his word, and listening to his voice. Now that I am back into my routine, I want to make sure I don't brush the Lord off to the side because of my busyness. I NEED HIM. WE ALL NEED HIM. Isaiah says the Lord is waiting on us to turn to him so he can show us his love and compassion. YES, LORD I AM TURNING TO YOU!
Heavenly Father, Thank you Lord. I praise you for the time off last week. I paise you also for the routine and the regular rhythms of life. I praise you that you are patiently waiting on me to turn to you. I know the results when I do turn to you. You have always been faithful and responded in amazing ways. I am so thankful that you are always near and ready when I look to you for help. Thank you Lord!
