THE IMPOSSIBLE is POSSIBLE!
Stephanie and I had such a great but VERY BUSY weekend. I went to the Rushville/New Castle girls basketball game Friday night. I have told many people I love HS girls basketball even more than boys because I think the girls play with more of a pure attitude than HS boys who all think they will be D1 basketball stars and play trying to mimic the NBA. Then we watched a couple of our GREAT-GRANDKIDS will my oldest granddaughter ran a marathon in Indy. On Saturday we went to watch ANOTHER GRANDDAUGHTER participate in the STATE BAND competition. We went to CheeseCake Factory then came home and went to Rock N Recovery evening. Sunday after Church we just napped! LOL!
While we were at the CheeseCake Factory eating I was paying attention to the IU game on my phone. When the Hoosiers got down 24-20 with very little time remaining I stopped following the game. It seemed like an IMPOSSIBLE task to score in that time remaining. Boy was I wrong. Proud to be a HOOSIER.
When I was refelcting this morning on the message from yesterday. I was thinking about this IMPOSSIBLE TASK of BEING HOLY! AND yes, it does seem like a HUGE MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB. But, like all things, we are not alone in accomplishing this SPIRITUAL GOAL.
Listen to what Paul told the Church at Philippi:
"Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him." (Philippians 2:12-13, NLT)
We should be great encourages because of that last line, God gives you the "power to do what pleases him." And since we are called be Holy in all we do, GOD will give us the power and the ability to accomplish this task. Are we willing to use the POWER OF GOD to be HOLY?
God does not call us to something he knows we cannot accomplish. He makes us HOLY and we just need to rely on his perfect GRACE AND WISDOM to guide us into holiness. Praise God he can help us ACCOMPLISH THE IMPOSSIBLE.
"But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: 'Be holy because I am holy.'" (1 Peter 1:16, NLT)
Lord, help me to understand the depth of Your holiness and to reflect it in all I do. Help me to realize I do not have to accomplish this impossible task on my own. I have You to rely upon; You and your spirit filling me with the power and the strength to accomplish all you have called me to be! AMEN!
