A PATIENT PLANTER!

 The ultimate goal for me is seeing NEW BELIEVERS come to faith. It is really a selfish goal because it is a statement that I am not satisfied with planting seeds and then letting God do the real work. I want to see rapid growth, I want change that is recognizable and clear. I am NOT A PATIENT PLANTER! That just isn't the way of FAITH. Faith in planting seeds is about patience, it is about endurance, it is about persistence. PLANTING seeds of FAITH are about TRUSTING in the LORD to complete the work. That reminds me of one of my favorite passages in scripture:

"I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God." (Philippians 1:3-11, NLT)

God's work is a lifelong journey, just like a mustard seed. We may not ever see results and sometimes those results we do see, take time to grow and mature. But we can trust that God will continue our work, continue to nurture and grow the seed into a plant that yields fruit in its season. The timing of that process is not in our hands, but God's timing is perfect. 

Heavenly Father, help me to be a faithful seed planter. Help me to know when I am called to plant seeds, when I am called to water the seed, and when I am called to harvest the fruit. Many times I want to do it all. I know you and your timing are perfect. Help me to rest upon the promise that you will complete the work started when the seed is planted and see it through until the end. Father, we love you, trust you, and open our hearts to be used by you for the GROWTH of your kingdom. Amen!
