DO SOMETHING!

  

When I was reading about the 5 FOOLISH BRIDESMAIDS in Matthew 25:1-13, I just couldn't get the word "LAZY" out of my mind. We really do not have a lot of details about these young ladies that knew there task, but refused to fulfill it. I stereotype them as being privileged, living a life of ease, and wanting people to serve them instead of being the servant. AND when that picture enters my head I think about the LAZY CHRISTIANS I know who act in a similar way. Receiving the GIFT OF GRACE from the Lord is wonderful. Once that gift is received are we just going to sit around praising God for the gift or are we going to SHARE THE GIFT and put our FAITH INTO ACTION?

Are YOU a LAZY Christian?

I have found I just can't sit around and do nothing. I love a song from Matthew West called "DO SOMETHING" Here is a video of that song:

When I read Revelation 3:15-17, where Jesus is describing the church in Laodicea, I cannot help but think about LAZY CHRISTIANS who refuse to help, refuse to serve others, and refuse to put their faith into action:

"I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! You say, 'I am rich. I have everything I want. I don't need a thing!' You don't realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked." (Revelation 3:15-17, NLT)

Don't be a lay Christian neglecting to fill your lamp and being prepared with extra oil! What that means for me is I need to be constantly ready to serve others. I need to be ready to share the gospel. I need to LOVE GOD and LOVE PEOPLE. If we are not doing those things we are a LUKEWARM CHRISTIAN thinking life is about us, praising God he has given us all these blessings, but never using them for His kingdom. We get lazy and satisfied. As a CHRISTIAN we should never be satisfied until ALL have come to know JESUS. Time is running short. We have no idea of the day or the hour, but you can be assured JESUS is returning!

Heavenly Father, I come to you in humility because I know how I can get so "soft and comfortable" in this life. We can rest on all you have done instead of doing what you have really called me to do. Please, Lord, forgive me and continue to fill me with a Spirit that truly desires to serve you and others. I pray you fill me and fill all your followers with an overwhelming joy that drives us to lead others to the kingdom. Amen!
