"Family" Goals! 2026!

 

Those that attend my church have heard my heart over the past couple of weeks. The Lord is convicting ME on behalf of my CHURCH to focus our lives on REACHING THE LOST. I randomly set a goal for our church. I am asking the LORD to move in the hearts of 25 people, through the members of our church, to give their lives to the LORD. My God given mission since 2019 has been to MAKE DISCIPLES who MAKE DISCIPLES. The mission hasn't changed. But the first step in making a disciple is BELIEF in the LORD JESUS CHRIST. As i have been hearing from people in our congregation who are praying for the lost, I am realizing MOST of them are praying for at least ONE FAMILY MEMBER. We always talk about GOING INTO ALL THE WORLD and yet we often neglect those who are the closest. 

As I was reading Acts 16 today, I thought about the simplicity and power of the GOSPEL message. In Acts 16 Paul and Silas are thrown in jail for preaching the Gospel. The Lord miraculously shook the walls of their jail, the doors flew open and their chains fell off. Read how this moment had an immediate impact on an ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD. 

"The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, 'Stop! Don't kill yourself! We are all here!' The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and asked, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved.' They replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.' " (Acts 16:27-32, NLT)

"WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?" 

That is the question we are begging people to ask. We are begging our FAMILY MEMBERS TO ASK. We are praying persistently, with BOLD, SHAMELESS PRAYERS that family and friends will get to the point where they ask that SIMPLE QUESTION. The answer is amazingly simple, just like the question. BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. But, when we first believe that is only the start of the journey. Growing in our knowledge of JESUS that is the  REAL journey we are all on.

Our church wants to lead people to that simple question and then help them to BELIEVE and really explore what it means to believe. OUR FAMILIES are on the TOP OF THAT LIST!

Please Heavenly Father, we seek your wisdom. We seek your power. We seek your bold strength to go into our community, to go into our state, but mostly we ask you give us the boldness to approach our families to help them discover the simple question and the simple but powerful answer. WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED! Our hearts are heavy and filled with sadness knowing our PARENTS, our INLAWS, our KIDS, our GRANDKIDS, and our GREAT GRANDKIDS might miss spending eternity with us in Heaven. Please Lord help us to spread the gospel in our families. Help us to reach those lost that are closest to us. Open their hearts to the power of your GIFT, the gift of JESUS on the Cross. Amen!
