Stuck in the LION's JAWS!
Do you ever go through a week and you feel under attack? It just seems like nothing goes right? I started off this week with a busy schedule and then I realized that all of the busyness scheduled THIS WEEK was really for next week. The Food Pantry, Pastors lunch, Pastors Retreat, they were all NEXT WEEK, not this week. WOW! That really messed me up. I am pretty faithful to a calendar and recording things to do because I will FORGET! LOL! But in order for a calendar to be effective, YOU HAVE TO USE IT!
But, MAN, this week has seem like it has been filled with problems, unhappy people, and I just have felt completely OUT OF BALANCE. I FEEL LIKE I AM CAUGHT IN THE LION'S JAWS! I need help getting out!
When it seems life is in constant turmoil around you and you are UNDER ATTACK, completely on the defensive instead of being on OFFENSE, we need to SLOW DOWN and seek GOD.
That's why I love my daily scripture readings in the morning. I need to proclaim, through the WORD OF GOD, "Not today SATAN!" And as I study PAUL and the book of ACTS, I realize, attacks of the enemy are as common as the common cold. Paul was constantly under attack:
"When Paul arrived, the Jewish leaders from Jerusalem gathered around and made many serious accusations they couldn't prove. Paul denied the charges. 'I am not guilty of any crime against the Jewish laws or the Temple or the Roman government,' he said. Then Festus, wanting to please the Jews, asked him, 'Are you willing to go to Jerusalem and stand trial before me there?' But Paul replied, 'No! This is the official Roman Court, so I ought to be tried right here. You know very well I am not guilty of harming the Jews. If I have done something worthy of death, I don't refuse to die. But if I am innocent, no one has a right to turn me over to these men to kill me. I appeal to Caesar!'" (Acts 25:7-11, NLT)
Paul was under attack constantly, but he kept his WITS about him, and completely relied upon God. God worked his plan to perfection. He had just told Paul he was going to ROME and this is how he was going to do it. I love it. God's plan intermingled with the chaos that surrounded Paul.
"Oh Lord, do not stay far away! You are my strength; come quickly to my aid! Save me from the sword; spare my precious life from these dogs. Snatch me from the lion's jaws and from the horns of these wild oxen. I will proclaim your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your assembled people. Praise the Lord, all you who fear him! Honor him, all you descendants of Jacob! Show him reverence, all you descendants of Israel! For he has not ignored or belittled the suffering of the needy. He has not turned his back on them, but has listened to their cries for help." (Psalm 22:19-24, NLT)
I need the strength of the Lord. I need his aid. I need protected and saved from the SWORD. I feel sometimes like I am caught in the LION'S JAWS. I praise God he is always here to protect me! He is here to protect this ministry, Stephanie, and lastly, although I am least of his followers, he is here to watch over me! Praise GOD!
Heavenly Father I treasure you, your strength, your wisdom, and your power to get things done. Please Lord fight my battle for me. Fight the ENEMY and lay them low on all occasions. Plant that hedge of protection around me and the members of my flock. Guide us and watch over our steps today and every day. Amen!
