PRAYING FOR REVIVAL!

 

The second chapter of the book AVAILING PRAYER is titled "The Conquering Force of the Church." I could not agree more. ever since the day of PENTECOST, the church has been a powerful force and PRAYER is the WEAPON OF CHOICE:

"They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus." (Acts 1:14, NLT)

I loved the unity displayed on Sunday morning with the church surrounding the cross "nailing" the names of the lost on the cross. There were 61 cards placed on the cross Sunday representing 183 names of people we are praying will Repent of their Sins, Acknowledge Jesus Sacrifice on the Cross for those sins, and make a commitment to follow Jesus as Lord and Savior. 

The CHURCH IS A POWERFUL FORCE and God listens to the cries of his people. That is why I call on all my church family hear at SMDCOG and to my brothers in Christ around the world, PRAY FOR REVIVAL in the hearts of the lost.

I have found the preaching on the parables to be harder than I imagined. I have always viewed the parables as great little stories with quaint sayings that help us to live better lives. YES, they are those things, but I am finding more and more they are also meant to CHALLENGE us, THE CHURCH, to fulfill our call to go out and make disciples, to LOVE GOD and to LOVE PEOPLE. The teachings are not always easy. But, the results of applying these principles to our lives will have eternal consequences. 

"On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting." (Acts 2:1-2, NLT)

Earnest, united prayer of God's people is powerful. When they were united on the Day of Pentecost 3000 souls came to be saved. We will see the same results. 

I know my church family will respond to the challenges I have been sharing straight from the word of God. AND when they do, THE FLOOD GATES will open wide and we will see REVIVAL.

I do not use that term (Revival) lightly. I believe SMDCOG is heading toward a time of revival and PRAYER will be the catalyst for that REVIVAL. 

I love this comment in the book, "PRAYER IS THE ROOT and STRENGTH of ALL CHURCH WORK!" AMEN! and AMEN! Then the author makes a claim that I had never thought of until reading it in print. 

"There is no channel but through the church to save sinners"

Wow! What a deep responsibility we have. We are not just the primary means of seeing the lost saved, WE ARE THE ONLY MEANS for people to be saved. It is not that we are saving them, GOD does that with his amazing grace, mercy, and love. But he is using HIS PEOPLE to share those gifts and we should always take that responsibility with the UTMOST SERIOUSNESS. OUR MISSION has ETERNAL CONSEQUENCES. 

PRAY FOR REVIVAL in our LAND. Pray for revival in our community, Pray for revival in our CHURCH. COME HOLY SPIRIT COME!

Heavenly Father, hear our cry. Hear our prayers for the 183 losts people hanging on our cross. We boldly come before you and persistently cry out for you to soften their hearts. Help us to teach them the truth in love in such a way that they can no longer deny YOU. USE our hands, our feet, our words, and our hearts to seek the lost and grow your kingdom. Amen!
