I learned to rely on God!

I love this picture. It gives me hope and a vision that SPRING is just around the corner. The winter is long and this time of year it always seems to linger. My bones are cold and I look forward to the moments I can sit on the front porch, even in the morning and just enjoy the warmth and sunshine. I know it is coming!

As I was reading scripture this morning, I asked myself a QUESTION:

"What would it look like today if I truly RELIED ON GOD?"

I have no amazing plans today. I don't have KNOWLEDGE of facing anything challenging. I don't have any dreaded meetings. I don't have any confrontations I can predict, but all the same, what would be different?  It might start with my prayers. If I am truly reliant upon God, I think my prayers are filled with PRAISE because I would have confidence the LORD WOULD PREVAIL. If I relied more on God, any new problem I face today would come with the anticipation that the LORD will SOLVE IT.

Today, both my New Testament and Old Testament scriptures point to the same thing. RELY ON GOD!

"In fact we expected to die. But as a result, we stoped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us. And you are helping us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks because God has graciously answered so many prayers for our safety." (2 Corinthians 1:9-11, NLT)

"I do not trust in my bow; I do not count on my sword to save me. You are the one who gives us victory over our enemies; you disgrace those who hate us. O God, we give glory to you all day long and constantly praise your name." (Psalm 44:6-8, NLT)

When we stop relying on ourselves and rely on the power of God there is no challenge we can face, no mountain to tall that we won't defeat. We get so used to relying on our own strength, our technology, our knowledge, our own wisdom. When we need to abandon those things and JUST RELY ON GOD!

Heavenly Father, I praise you that, in fact, you have rescued me time and time again. Why do I think that will change now. You are my rock, my shield, and my redeemer and savior. I have confidence in you and cannot wait to face this day with you walking at my side, walking in front of me as a shield, and walking behind me to keep the enemy at bay. I trust in you and you alone. You are my king and I praise you to the highest heaven. Amen!
