WAR is UGLY!

 

WAR IS UGLY! I don't care if war is justified or not, it is still ugly. The weapons today are so sterile, they are technology driven, they are designed like COMPUTER GAMES. But, joysticks and drones don't cover up the fact that HUMAN LIVES are lost  through the entire process of war. Going from bayonets to AI doesn't change the fact that WAR KILLS. It doesn't matter if it is an American life or an Iranian or a Soviet or a Ukranian, death is death. But, the comment above should give all Christians pause. We are called to war, even if it is a different war. And just like this quote, some Christians choose to sit on the sidelines and not engage the enemy. We are comfortable hunkering down in our places of worship, or in our comfortable homes. 

As Christians we are called to fight the battle, we are called to war. But our war is different:

"We are humans, but we don't wage war as humans do. We use God's mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:3-5, NLT)

I love that we are called to "USE GOD'S MIGHTY WEAPONS" not worldly weapons. The worldly weapons that come to mind are not the weapons of war mentioned above. The typical weapons of humanity are things like SCIENCE, REASON, ARGUMENT, PROTEST, those are WORDLY weapons. Science is used to cover up the reality of God's word and his presence in this world. REASON is wonderful, except when it is biased with opinion and void of GOD. Arguments, protests, and debate solve nothing. As CHRISTIANS, I hope we know, we are never going to argue someone to heaven. Protests and violence just separate the world of CHRIST and the world of MAN. We are called to fight war in a different way.

We are at WAR and we are called to use the TRUTH of God's Word as our main weapon. We are called to use PRAYER. We are called to use our own FAITH experiences to demonstrate the power of our Lord over sin, evil, and suffering. We are called to use LOVE, COMPASSION, GRACE, and MERCY to battle the sin and evil that surrounds us. This is a BATTLE but this is NOT your typical war of ARMY, NAVY, MARINES and the AIR FORCE. 

Please Lord, help us with out battle. We need YOUR ARMY. We need your shield, your sword, your helmet and your breastplate. We cannot survive the battle, let alone win the battle without you leading us. Give the church strength to keep the fight. Give us, as individuals, the endurance and the inspiration that our fight is not in vain. Amen!
