Do you even pray?

I think I love COFFEE too much. Even hearing the sound of the pot pouring into the cup is somehow comforting. I know..... I might have lost it mentally! I don't have data on this but I am sure that COFFEE is COMFORT FOOD (drink?) I love the warmth, the smell, the taste and the time I drink it first thing in the morning. That time is peaceful, quiet, and pleasant.

Our time of prayer should be COMFORTING at least as much as COFFEE.

Read Psalm 62:8

"Oh my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him for God is our refuge." (Psalm 62:8, NLT)

Do you pour out your heart to God? Maybe I should start with the question, "DO YOU EVEN PRAY?"Do you cry out to the Lord? Do you have that kind of relationship that you can let out your frustrations, your deep desires and leave your heart open and vulnerable?

I, often, pour my heart out to God. I have been praying for over a year on a particular subject. God has not answered. I have admitted I am frustrated over the lack of answer. This single topic weighs on my heart and so I have poured out my heart to him. When I do that, it is not because of anger. I am not frustrated to the point of not trusting God. I just don't understand. I know he owes me nothing. I do not deserve an answer. I would not even think about DEMANDING an answer. I trust God has a plan. Yet, at the same time I think it is ok to pour my heart to God, to plead with him to grant my request.

"I cry out to the Lord; I plead for the Lord's mercy. I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles. When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn." (Psalm 142:1-3, NLT)

"Rise during the night and cry out. Pour out your hearts like water to the Lord. Lift up your hands to him in prayer, pleading for your children, for in every street they are faint with hunger." (Lamentations 2:19, NLT)

I think God relishes our hearts when we pour them out to him. He wants that kind of relationship. He wants that kind of openness. He wants that type of heartfelt prayer. I know God is fully capable and is able to intervene. It is ok to fervently seek that intervention.

Is there something you need to take to the LORD and CRY OUT TO HIM?

Heavenly Father, You know the situation that prompts my thoughts this morning. You know it is not life or death. You know it is not a matter of salvation or doubts in you, or lack of faith. I completely, whole-heartedly trust in you. I am just pleading for your mercy in solving this issue now and not waiting until later. I completely love you, Lord, more today than yesterday and more today than any other time of my life. I come to you with an open heart. Hear my cries! Amen!
