He REALLY just wants US!

 

I am just starting to recover from the great celebration of Holy Week. I am touched by the POWER and PRESENCE of God showing up at our Good Friday Service, SonRise Service, and Easter Worship. Yes, we put a lot of hard work into them, but if you only could see it from my perspective. If you could, you would see how GREAT GOD WAS! Yes, we worked at it, but I can see GOD'S POWER in how everything fit together. He showed up despite the fact we were focused on DOING THINGS. Just putting together all the pieces of video and song for Good Friday was amazing. It wasn't me. It wasn't Eric. It was God putting it all together. It was God showing up and adding something we could never add. He added HIS HOLY SPIRIT. The power of the Sonrise service having our young men and women lead, was GOD. The message for Sunday Morning, the worship, the sermon, it was all GOD. WE cannot take credit for it. It was his PRESENCE that truly mattered. 

I was reading Mark 8 today and got to the part where Peter tells Jesus he is the Messiah, then later is rebuked by Jesus because PETER is only looking at things THROUGH HUMAN EYES. 

"But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, 'Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on things of God, but on things of man. And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, 'If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.'" (Mark 8:33-34, NLT)

How many times do I look at things through HUMAN EYES? Even in my study of scripture, or praying, or worshipping, do I even look at these wonderful things through human eyes or do I look at them through GOD'S EYES?

God doesn't want us to blindly study scripture. He does not want us to blindly worship him. He had enough of that when Israel halfheartedly made their sacrifices. He had enough of hollow prayers lifted to him out of obligation. 

He really just wants US. 

Do you ever take time JUST TO SIT IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD? Put away your bible, turn off your worship music. Just sit with the Lord. Treat it like you are taking a quiet walk with your spouse. You don't have to say anything, just be together. 

Heavenly Father, forgive me for trying to make our relationship about doing stuff, learning more, studying more, praying more, serving more, and more and more and more. I treasure our time together just sitting with you. I treasure our relationship. I thank you so much for blessing us this past weekend with your presence. You found a way to use my busyness to reach me deep inside my heart and I am so thankful. I love you Lord! Amen!
