BE CONFIDENT!
When I was coaching, I would walk a fine line between encouraging an athlete and setting unrealistic expectations. My real goal was to give them confidence, not to doubt themselves, and to attack the race or game instead of entering with apprehension and doubt. I had one girl. probably the best female runner in school history, get up to the start of a race and always say how terrible she was going to do. She always won. Even though she had loads of talent, she always doubted herself. We worked at helping her gain CONFIDENCE in who she was and her talents.
I thought about that today when I was reading Philippians 1 --
"And I want you to know, my dear brothers and sisters, that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News. For everyone here, including the whole palace guard, knows that I am in chaings because of Christ. And because of my imprisonment, most of the believers here have gained confidence and blodly speak God's message without fear." (Philippians 1:12-14, NLT)
I really want believers to be confident in their faith. So many are timid and apprehensive and it limits there ability to share the gospel. I want to do everything I can to encourage them to grow in their faith, in their knowledge of Jesus, and God's word. When they grow in that knowledge and can speak boldly about what they believe, that is when GROWTH of the KINGDOM happens. God has not given us over to fear but to speak BOLDLY for HIM.
Heavenly Father, I praise you for the joy of my salvation. I know I have nothing to fear because of what you did on the cross. Help me to be bold for my faith and inspire that same boldness with others. We need you Lord because we are constantly under attacking from those that want us to doubt what you have told us through God's word, and through God's voice. Please Lord, help us to be confident and to empower others to have that same confidence. Amen!
BE CONFIDENT!
