Been There .... Done That!

I remember a time when I was obsessed with buying a home. It was really all I could think about. Stephanie and I have owned homes, like most people, for the bulk of our life. We never really owned anything fancy, but if you look at all the homes we owned, they progressively grew in size and quality. Then in 2018 we sold our home, sold or gave away everything we owned and bought a Fifth Wheel Camper that we lived in and traveled the country. When we started our ministry in Bluffton we rented a downtown apartment with the "store front" ministry downstairs. Now we are renting a home from the Nazarene Church in Spiceland. I am not sure we will ever own a home again. I guess my thoughts are "BEEN THERE ...... DONE THAT!"  All I want now is a roof over my head, a place to rest and take refuge from the world, and a place my family can come to visit. We have that place right now and like Paul, I am completely CONTENT.

"Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever i have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." (Philippians 4:11-13, NLT)

HOW CONTENT ARE YOU? Are you running the RAT RACE to get more and more and more, never being satisfied until you have the newest, shiniest, new gadget? It is not NORMAL for an American to be content. This message should be our focus. Be CONTENT, GOD WILL PROVIDE. Houses, cars, vacations, motorcycles, they all are wonderful but not necessary for life.

The only real need any of us have is JESUS. I am so thankful he has filled that void left by not owning STUFF. The Lord will provide. He always has and he always will.

Heavenly Father, I cannot imagine being more content than I am right now. I am content where you have placed me and rejoice in this opportunity. I praise you, Lord, for all that you have done, always providing for me and my family. I commit all that I have now and in the future, completely, to you. I praise you for this wonderful life, family, friends, and church. I can't praise you enough. But I will give my best to serve you and love you and obey you, all the rest of my days! AMEN!
