I need a sign, LORD!

Ok, I am about to give you an idea about my age --

Do you remember the song "SIGNS?" It was released in 1970 by the FIVE MAN ELECTRIC BAND. It was a statement song about the establishment. It fit in the issues of the day. It was certainly not a religious song, but the ending of it had these lines:

              "And the sign said, "Everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray" But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all, I didn't have a penny to pay. So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign. I said, "Thank you, Lord, for thinkin' 'bout me, I'm alive and doin fine."

There is nothing theological about this song or these lines except to say that we all need to thank God for thinking about us. AND YES, God does think about us. We need to be in constant prayer to God, maybe not writing a SIGN, but just having a regular conversation telling him how we are doing. God wants to hear from us. He loves conversation with us, he loves to hear our voice. 

"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7, NLT)

We can approach God about anything and nothing at all. Prayer doesn't have to be a list of wants or needs. The Lord just loves to hear from us. But one thing I have been praying for lately is that God would provide me SIGNS that I am doing his will. I constantly pray for GOD'S WILL to be DONE through me. I want to know if I am doing the will of the LORD and if I am not, please LORD correct me. 

"Send me a sign of your favor. Then those who hate me will be put to shame, for you, O Lord, help and comfort me." (Psalm 86:17, NLT)

It is ok to seek SIGNS from the Lord that we are living within his will. The LORD honors that request. 

Heavenly Father, we thank you for all that you do for us. Thank you LORD for guiding and directing our lives. We certainly cannot do your will within our own knowledge and strength. WE NEED YOU LORD! GIVE US A SIGN, LORD, that we are doing your will and if we are not, please make us aware because we do not want to live outside your will. Amen!
