SUNSHINE, YIPPEE!!!!

 

I cannot express the joy that SUNSHINE brings to my life. Because with that sunshine comes warmth. Even in the middle of winter a SUNNY cold day beats a CLOUDY, DREARY, COLD DAY. I don't know anyone who prefers CLOUDS over SUN, darkness over light. 

I think that is true with our walk with the Lord. 

"for once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. Carefully determine what pleases the Lord." (Ephesians 5:8-10, NLT)

This scripture really spoke to me today and I kept thinking, "What does it mean to LIVE AS PEOPLE OF LIGHT?" LIGHT is a major theme throughout scripture. Jesus told us we were the light of the world and not to hide under a bushel but spread our light for all to see. It sounds to me like a beautiful sunshine filled day. But, putting it into practice what does that mean? What changes about my daily walk with the LORD if I live as a person of light or live full of darkness?

I gave my life to the LORD, the light entered into my life, when I was 12 years old. So, I am not sure I even remember what it is like to live in darkness. I can look back and see GOD's LIGHT shining throughout my life. But, how did I reflect that light to others? That is the sad part. Much of my light was wasted and never made it from under the basket. 

OUR LIGHT IS JESUS and we need to take that light with us at work, at school, at home, in the community, at the grocery store, at church, and a myriad of other places. ARE you taking JESUS WITH YOU? Do you deliberately, intentionally, share his light with others. Do you make this THE PRIORITY in everything you do. I really think that is what it means to LIVE AS PEOPLE OF LIGHT. JESUS becomes a priority and sharing his love, his grace, and his mercy has to be on the forefront of every action we take. Sadly, that was not true for me over a large part of my life. I could wallow in that regret or double my efforts, right now, to BE THE LIGHT. 

Heavenly Father, thank you for the light you brought into the world to shine in our hearts. But, we know you had no intentions of us hiding it within ourselves. Help us to be people who live in the light, letting everyone know who you are and how you have changed us. Help us to spread your love and joy in this world, not from our own power, but through yours. AMEN!
