DEEP CLEANING ----- of the Heart!

I have been doing a lot of cleaning lately, both at home and at church. McKenzie is visiting and Stephanie is with Kelley so my nights have been filled with some cleaning at home. I even did the dishes, which is probably better than leaving them for Stephanie when she gets home. LOL! Our roomba vacuum isn't working so I actually ran the sweeper. The house never gets real dirty with only two of us, but it needed some extra cleaning. At Church, while Stephanie is away, I took the time to clean out all the office cabinets and the Copy/Mailroom. There was a lot of stuff that had been saved for a while, so I purged! Then I began working on moving some furniture and rearranging for an anticipated change at SMDCOG. We will wait to see how all that works out before I announce anything.

For me, it is so easy to clean and organize. It is a part of who I am and when I get on this CLEANING KICK, I have a tendency to push everything else aside. Even at this moment, I am distracted by the things I need to finish today. So the scripture I read in Luke was quite fitting this morning:

"Then the Lord said to him, 'You Pharisees are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are filthy -- full of greed and wickedness! Fools! Didn't God makes the inside as well as the outside? So clean the inside by giving gifts to the poor, and you will be clean all over." (Luke 11: 39-41, NLT)

It is so easy to get busy and neglect the most important things in life. That could be neglecting family, it could be neglecting bible study, prayer, worship, and connecting with other fellow believers. So many things can get in the way of doing God's will even though the things we are doing are not bad. We need to make sure we do not NEGLECT GOD'S CALL IN OUR LIFE, to do our own thing! David said the same thing when he said, CREATE IN ME A CLEAN HEART!

God has called each of us the HOLINESS! Are we doing that kind of cleaning or are we so worried about the outward appearance that we neglect the inside? Sometimes we need a deep cleaning both spiritually and physically. We all need to take time to reflect on where we are in our faith, are we doing God's will, or are we just cleaning the outside? Are we all about appearance, or DOING GOD'S WILL?

Heavenly Father, help me continually examine my life, that I might clean out the bad, both inside and out. Help me to connect with you regardless of the schedule. Guide my life in such a way that I seek you continuously, pray with you continuously, and worship you continuously. There is nothing more important! Thank you Lord for your patience with me. Amen!
