Head & Heart vs. Hands & Feet

This week started out a bit quieter than last week. VBS took a lot out of me and then the FLOOD on Sunday just added to the exhaustion. But, I praise God we not only made it through, we were completely blessed through it all. I just loved bringing back VBS. It is a tiring week, but throughout the week I got to hear a group of more than 20 kids SINGING THE NAME OF JESUS up on the stage, I was deeply touched. That is what it is all about. Thank you Lord! 

I was reading today the opening verses of Psalm 12 and they really struck me:

"Help, O Lord, for the godly are fast disappearing! The faithful are vanishing from the earth! Neighbors lie to each other, speaking with flattering lips and deceitful hearts. May the Lord cut off their flattering lips and silence their boastful tongues. They say, 'We will lie to our hearts' content. Our lips are our own -- who can stop us?'" (Psalm 12:1-4, NLT)

Do you believe the godly are fast disappearing? I am thinking about this question this morning. In some ways I would agree. The number of Christians in the world is growing rapidly, even if that is not true here in our country. But, I think he real problem is what has happened to CHRISTIANITY. Faith in JESUS has become a HEAD and HEART exercise only. It is not a HANDS and FEET event. Talking to the Lord, praying, worshipping him in song and praise are all wonderful, but does it mean anything in our families, our communities, our state, country and world? 

A lot of people call themselves Christians in our country, nearly 235 million people. That is about 65% of the population of our country and the number, which was declining for decades has started to tick upward. But, are we ACTIVE in sharing our faith. Are we doing something with our hands and feet, spreading the gospel, helping the homeless, feeding the hungry, taking care of the widow, the elderly, the sick, the dying? ARE we doing anything with our faith or is it just a label. Is our faith just about morning and evening prayers, Sunday morning worship, VBS? Or is is something more.

"What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don't show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?" (James 2:14, NLT)

Heavenly Father, GIVE US YOUR HEART for the lost and lonely of this world. Give us your love of people. Give us your heart to sacrifice to help this world not only KNOW ABOUT JESUS, but to SEE HIM everywhere they turn! AMEN!
