Lord, I am not that smart!
I have learned enough throughout my life that I really need to focus on GOD'S WILL. I have such a tendency to mess things up if I try to do things in my own will and my own strength, or if I rely on the wisdom and knowledge of man. I have often said this prayer, "LORD, I AM NOT THAT SMART, PLEASE MAKE IT OBVIOUS WHICH PATH TO TAKE." That is a real prayer. I know how I am.
God has answered that prayer so many times. I shared yesterday, within the morning announcements, a story about our new ASSOCIATE / WORSHIP PASTOR. God has his hands all over this new addition to SMDCOG. I can't help but think that if I were left to my own thoughts or we left this in the hands of man, we would still be looking. I am not saying I am anything special, but the more I leave things in the hands of God, seeking his will and not the will of man, the more I see absolutely amazing results and the correct path is revealed.
I am so thankful as a leader of SMDCOG, I have the support of an elder board who holds me accountable, but also realizes the movement of the hand of God and does everything within its power to follow God's will. We should all follow Jesus' example and SEEK the WILL of GOD.
"He walked away, about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, 'Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.' Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him. He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood." (Luke 22, 41-44, NLT)
Jesus relied heavily on his Father in Heaven to give him guidance and the perfect plan. Why should I do anything less. We are listening to God. He has answered our prayer. I cannot wait to see what else he does.
Heavenly Father, I praise you for the power of your hand and I praise you for the blessing of Cora and Jacob. This is not my plan. This is not the plan of the Elder Board. This is your plan and I am so thankful that you make your plan so obvious that I cannot mess it up. Lord, we are amazed at your perfect plan and ask that you continue to work in our church, in our family, and in our hearts. Thank you Lord for thinking about us. We are alive and doing well only because of you. Amen!
