NO WAY!

Can you believe in God and not believe in miracles?

I can't imagine how that is possible. But there are people who do not believe in miracles and claim to be God's followers. I don't understand how that works. If you don't believe in miracles, what do you pray for? I might be wrong, but it seems like every prayer I utter to God is for him to intervene in some miraculous way. I pray for healing. I pray for broken relationships, I pray for impossible situations to be restored or repaired or made new. God is a god of miracles and he loves to show up at just the moment we doubt.

I have been praying and fasting with our elder board for nearly a month. We are praying for God's powerful right hand to intervene in our request. I have ALREADY experienced miracles through that time of prayer and fasting. God loves to show up in surprising and miraculous ways. But, if you have ever been a part of watching a miracle take place, you will know that even in the midst of watching God work we often say,

"NO WAY!"

We react in astonishment. We react in doubt saying, "Can this be real?" We react by questioning whether this is a miraculous moment of just a series of coincidence. Luke 5 contains some wonderful miracles. It includes a miraculous catch of fish, lives saved, forgiveness of sins, and healing of a paralytic. Here is one of those miracles:

"Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he asked them,"Why do you question this in your hearts? Is it easier to say,'Your sins are forgiven,' or 'Stand up and walk'? So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins." Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, "Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!" And immediately, as everyone watched, the man jumped up, picked up his mat, and went home praising God." (Luke 5:22-25, NLT)

I am alwasy so amazed. I am not sure why. God is definitely a God of miracles and the older I get the more I realize and EXPECT BIG THINGS! When I ask God, he always responds. Yes, sometimes the answer is no, and he usually makes that clear. But sometimes the answer is a MIRACULOUS YES! Thank you Lord!

Heavenly Father, Thank you. I praise you for answered prayers. I praise you that you are still the GOD of MIRACLES. I am amazed, not that you ar able, but that you care so much about us that you break the laws of nature, to demonstrate your love for us. Things just don't happen without your hand, without your love, without your grace, and without your mercy. I praise you God for the miracles I have witnessed and can't wait to see what else you will do! Amen!
