NOT PROFESSIONAL ACTORS! LOL!

 

We had a lot of fun last night as our VBS started. 22 Kids gathered at SMDCOG with equal or even more volunteers. It was a good night of teaching and kid fun. This is the first Bible School held at the church for many years. We have a lovely young lady who has a real heart for kids and truly organized all of us. I praise God for Ashley and seeing this event come to be a real enthusiastic event at the church. 

My favorite part is the DRAMA. We have a small group of volunteers telling a story about a SHEEP FARM in IRELAND. It is so much fun! I would genuinely say we are NOT PROFESSIONAL ACTORS by any stretch of the imagination, but we are having a blast ACTING OUT THE STORY. 

When I was reading Luke 23 this morning I was caught up in the following short verse:

"Herod was delighted at the opportunity to see Jesus, because he had heard about him and had been hoping for a long time to see him perform a miracle. He asked Jesus question after question, but Jesus refused to answer. Meanwhile, the leading priests and the teachers of the religious law stood there shouting their accusations." (Luke 23: 8-10, NLT)

Herod was excited to see Jesus PERFORM a miracle. He was looking for a SIDESHOW attraction and had no desire to really pursue Jesus and his purpose here on earth. He viewed Jesus as a PERFORMER, who would perform miracles like he was on a stage. 

I think that is similar to many Christian's prayer life. They might have heard of Jesus amazing power, answering prayers, and performing miracles. They pray, for one reason, they just want to see a miracle. But, I am sure you all realize that is not how this works. 

God is NOT A PERFORMER acting on  STAGE. He is real, authentic, and he is genuinely interested in your life. He is not acting. The Bible is not a play, it is not a fictional drama. It is so important to realize this before you can grow into the Christian God is calling you to be. 

Heavenly Father, you are so much more than a real life actor. You are the king of the universe. We come to you not asking you to PERFORM miracles, but to help us in our time of need with real help. We know this is not an act. You are filled with REAL GRACE, REAL MERCY, and REAL LOVE for us. We are humbled by that because we do not deserve any of it. Thank you Lord, please continue to walk with us, show us your path, and live the same kind of genuine life, Jesus lived. It is in your great and holy name we pray. AMEN!
