VBS - Already a SUCCESS

 

VBS starts next week. 

I am so excited about our church committing to this. Our success won't be measured by the number of kids who attend. We would certainly love to reach as many kids as possible. This EVENT is already a HUGE SUCCESS. The amount of support we have seen from our church is amazing. We have 47 volunteers. That is amazing because it is about 40% of our total weekly attendance. The amount of work being done behind the scenes with drama, music, decorations, and set building is truly a work of the Lord. When you have a church committed to growing the next generation of Jesus followers, no matter how you measure it, you will be a SUCCESS. I am confident Jesus would agree:

"Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples, 'Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn't receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.'" (Luke 18:16-17, NLT)

Do you have a child like faith? 

So often we adults are so skeptical and cynical. We must have proof, evidence, and explanations BEFORE WE BELIEVE. A child has such a simple, innocent faith. We should have that same kind of faith. That is why I believe it is so important to start with a simple belief in GOD. 

DO YOU BELIEVE in GOD? 

Because if you can get to the point where you believe in God, the rest is very simple. Just look around you. Look into the eyes of a child or hold a baby. RECEIVE THE KINGDOM OF GOD just like a child. Just rest in the thought that there is a God who designed and created this wonderful universe. Just sit in the presence of God like you are sitting on the lap of a good, good Father. You will be like a child, just desiring to be held a little tighter. When we read scripture, read as if the Lord himself is reading to you like a parent reading a bedtime story. When you pray, pray like you are a child talking to your parent. Don't make it complicated. Simply come as a child before the throne of your FATHER who dearly loves and adores you. 

Heavenly Father, thank you for the innocence of a child. Help me to just be able to sit in your presence, not wanting anything, not having any motivation except just to feel your embrace. We love you Lord and lift up all our children to you. Bless them, watch over them, build a hedge of protection around them to keep the evils of this world far from them. Amen!
