Accept it and LIVE!

Lately, writing this blog has been a little inconsistent. I never write one on the weekends, but the other day that is difficult for me is "Boiler Room Mondays." For those that don't know what that is, each Monday morning at 7am a group of faithful people gather to pray at the church. We started doing this after I shared a story about the Great Charles Spurgeon doing the same thing faithfully at his church. Below his large church, London Metropolitan Tabernacle, in a dirty, dark, musty boiler room, a faithful group of believers gathered to pray for his church and that church had a huge impact on the faith of so many. We typically have 8-12 people gather to pray. We pray about specific people, events, salvation for our "ones", and a multiple list of other things. It is a short 30 minutes dedicated to lifting up our church and its people to the Lord. The results have been miraculous as we have seen countless, amazing, answers to prayer. So Monday blog writing time has been slowly replaced with BOILER ROOM MONDAYS and I have loved it. Of course that doesn't mean I do not study God's word throughout the day. I am constantly peeking into God's word, thinking about sermons and going down rabbit trails within scripture. I never can get enough of that during the day or even when I wake in the WEEEEE HOURS of the morning. I just don't take the time to write this blog.

Today I was reading Acts 13 and a simple couple of verses caught my attention:

"Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for sins. Everyone who believes in him is made right in God's sight -- something the law of Moses could never do." (Acts 13:38-39, NLT)

I don't know how many times I have written a blog about the simplicity of the Gospel, but it just strikes me how simple it really is. We all have sinned. I do not care who you are, even if you think of yourself as a good person, you can point back to something you have done wrong in the sight of the Lord. And since God cannot tolerate unrighteousness, we have to be made right somehow. There is only ONE WAY TO BE MADE RIGHT. The alternative is the punishment of death. That is the penalty of sin. The alternative is to be made right through the BLOOD AND SACRIFICE OF JESUS CHRIST. Jesus paid the price for YOUR SIN on the cross. All we have to do is accept that gift and live! It really is that simple. Accept it and LIVE!

Heavenly Father, I praise you for our time together. It matters not whether it is on Boiler room Mondays praying for your intervention or if it is writing a blog aout your word. I know you are present in both events. I particularly praise you, Lord, for the simplicity of the Gospel message. I thank you for the simplicity of saving us through your blood on the cross. Please, Lord, help us continue to be the light into this community. Help us to proclaim the simple message of Jesus to the world. Help us to point to the profound simplicity of your plan for salvation. We want ALL TO COME TO KNOW YOU! It is in your precious name Jesus, that I pray. Amen!
