Dream On!

 The song DREAM ON came to my mind this morning when I was reading about Paul in Acts 16. The only thing that song really tells you is that I am old. Aerosmith released that song way back in 1973. There is nothing remotely theological about that song. Here is what I was reading when it popped into my head!

"Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. So instead, they went on through Mysia to the seaport of Troas. That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, 'Come over to Macedonia and help us!' So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there." (Acts 16:7-10, NLT, emphasis added)

Do you dream of GOD? Do you dream or have visions from God?

It might seem like a strange question, but over the past 9 years, I have received regular messages from God at night. A few of them have been in dreams, but many times these messages come in my 3am WAKE-UP CALL. (Those that are old know what I am talking about! LOL) When I am trying to get back to sleep, dozing in and out of sleep, I get some of my best ideas! I have recognized through the years, those messages come from God and now I even look forward to that quiet time with the Lord. 3AM in the night is about the only time God can GET A WORD IN EDGEWISE! At most of the other times my mind is filled with stuff that seems to block his voice from being heard. 

I cherish those times in the middle of the night and hearing from the still small voice of God is a highlight of my day. 

So why don't YOU hear from the LORD? I certainly don't think I am as special as Paul or the other people in scripture that hear from God. I am no one special, except that I am now more interested in listening. I think most people don't hear from God because they are not listening, they are not seeking and, frankly, they are not quiet enough to hear him speak. 

What about you? Are you providing time to LISTEN TO GOD SPEAK? It is not easy to do at first, but practice, practice, practice and you will find you will hear more from God. 

Heavenly Father, Thank you that you do not give up on speaking to us. Thank you for finding a way to fight through the noise of my life and penetrate this heart of mine. I praise you for how you reveal yourself to us and can't wait for more encounters with you! Amen!
