You NEED a DISCIPLESHIP GROUP!

 

I watch a lot of Facebook videos of preachers and evangelists. I particularly love to watch STREET EVANGELISTS and people like the late Charlie Kirk, Allie Beth Stuckey, Cliff Knechtel, Isaiah Robin, and Wes Huff, Mike Winger, who know scripture and defend God's Word even against pretty hostile critics. I am greatly saddened by the misinterpretation of scripture by the masses. I am saddened by the number of good Christians who do not know the BIBLE. I constantly hear people twisting scripture to fit their own agenda. It seems anyone can say whatever they want about scripture because they believe no one will verify or check on them. Then what they say becomes the GOSPEL.

I was reading in Matthew when Jesus was asked about DIVORCE. The masses in the first century were no different than we are in the 21st century. They had justified divorce and used Moses to make their point. But, Jesus sent them straight.

"Jesus replied, 'Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God had orginally intended." (Matthew 19:8, NLT)

We have to work diligently to RIGHTLY READ scripture. There are several ways we can do this. I love using the BLUE LETTER BIBLE AP (blueletterbible.org) 

This AP gives meaning of greek and hebrew words and also references to how they are used in context. This is very important. It slows down your study time but makes it more meaningful. Try it.

I am very suspicious of using "secular" AI platforms, but I have found a good AI AP called CROSSTALK. 

I have tested this AP for over a year and so far I trust this platform with very challenging theological questions. But, let me say this, ALWAYS verify with scripture the truth being shared in ANY AI platform. The way you use this AP is to just ask it any question and it will give a biblical response. 

But there is nothing more valuable than joining with fellow believers in a BIBLE STUDY or a DISCIPLESHIP GROUP. I prefer the term discipleship group. All of our discipleship groups are centered around studying God's Word but we are also about a deeper study with more than just head knowledge. And the goal of a discipleship group is to MAKE MORE DISCIPLES outside this group. Discipleship groups are about MULTIPLYING GOD'S WORD like the early church. We want to become the Acts 2 church:

"All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayer." (Acts 2:42, NLT)

"...all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved." (Acts 2:47, NLT)

These two verses give us our road map to learning and growing. We are supposed to be fully devoted to learning, teaching, meals, and prayer. But our ultimate goal is to ADD TO OUR FELLOWSHIP. That is what a discipleship group is all about. 

Heavenly Father, we praise you for the value of your word. We ask that you speak to us and we ask that you help us to share that message within this community of believers but also that we share with the world all that we are learning. Inspire and motivate believers to grow in their faith and give us the tools to help grow your kingdom. Amen!
